How to check the status using IIB?

Insurance Information Bureau of India offers a web portal to view your Vehicle Insurance details. Here is how:

Visit the IIB web portal.

Provide the required details such as your email ID, name, address, vehicle registration number, etc.

Step 3

Enter the captcha code towards the end of the form and submit.

Step 4

Once you correctly provide all the information, your Vehicle Insurance status gets displayed. If you do not remember the registration number, search for the details on the IIB web portal using your vehicle’s engine and chassis number.

How to check the history using E-VAHAN services?

If you cannot check your Vehicle Insurance status on IIB, use E-VAHAN services. Here is a step-by-step guide for it:

Click on ‘Know your Insurance details’.

Step 3

Enter your vehicle’s registration number and the captcha code.

Step 4

Click on ‘Search Vehicle’.

If you enter the correct details, the website of E-VAHAN services displays your vehicle’s details and Insurance status.

Things to remember

  • Besides checking the status of Car and Bike Insurance, you can also get your Commercial Motor Insurance details through the IIB web portal or E-VAHAN services.
  • Only use IIB to check the status of Motor Insurance that you bought after April 1, 2010.
  • Consider IIB to check the details of Vehicle Insurance that are more than two months old.
  • If you cannot check the status online, visit the Road Transport Authority office where your vehicle is registered and ask them to help you with it.
  • When you buy any General Insurance in India, a soft copy of it gets sent to your registered email address as soon as you buy them. Hence, check your mail for any information you require concerning Vehicle Insurance.
