  • Kosher salt
  • Black pepper (freshly ground)
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • 1/4 cup (US) hot sauce
  • Melted butter (4 tablespoons)

  • Salt
  • Basil leaves

Pro Tips from the Chef:

If you want your air-fried chicken wings as crunchy as KFC fries, then pat your chicken wings completely dry with a kitchen napkin or a paper towel before seasoning them. You can also leave the wings uncovered in the refrigerator for about an hour or two to let them dry completely.

Add a pinch of kosher salt over the wings before putting them on the refrigerator tray. It will help the meat to get seasoned with salt.

Direction for Cooking

Seasoning

Seasoning is the key to cooking a tasty plate of spicy chicken wings. Let’s do this carefully.

  1. Take the chicken wings out of the fridge and keep them over paper towels. So that the chicken pieces come to room temperature and the moisture gets soaked by the paper towels.
  2. Once the chicken wings are dried off, add a tablespoon of salt (do it carefully, as you have added kosher salt before) and freshly ground black pepper.
  3. You can add some chili flakes and crushed oregano as per your taste. Do this step if you want an extra spice boost in your hot chicken wings. The oregano is completely optional.
  4. Rub the spices all over the chicken wings (make deep cuts on the chicken to infuse the spice inside the flesh) with your hand and cover it with a foil. Let the bowl rest for about 10 minutes.

Air Frying

  1. Bring the non-stick cooking spray and apply it all over the air fryer cooking bowl and rub it evenly.
  2. Put the chicken wings on the cooking bowl and rub the leftover marinade over each piece.
  3. Put the bowl inside the air fryer, set the temperature to 380° Fahrenheit, and cook it for at least 12-15 minutes.
  4. Turn off the air-fryer and remove the tray safely. Now, flip the wings and again put the tray back inside the air fryer. Now, set the temperature to 380° Fahrenheit again and cook it for 12 minutes more.
  5. Remove the tray, and with a brush, rub butter or unscented vegetable oil over the chicken wings. This step is completely optional. It gives an extra crisp to your chicken wings.
  6. Set the temperature at 400-450° Fahrenheit and cook it for another 5 minutes. Do it for both sides.
  7. Use a fork to check the meat, and it’s done, remove it from the cooking tray.

Garnishing

Now that your chicken wings are ready let’s focus on the garnishing part. This part varies from person to person. But, in my suggestion, try the blue cheese dressing. You will thank me later.

  1. Take a large bowl and take a spoonful of hot sauce, melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of garlic powder. If you want an extra kick of spice, add in a dash of chili flakes or fresh jalapeno.
  2. Now, take a hand whisker and mix it properly.
  3. Take a bowl and put the blue cheese in it. If you don’t like the taste of blue cheese, you can take mozzarella or cheddar as per your taste. Melt the cheese slowly. Don’t ever turn the heat up; it will instantly burn the cheese.
  4. Now, take the chicken wings and put them in the bowl of mixed dressing. Mix it nicely over all the pieces.
  5. Remove the pieces to a serving plate, bring the melted cheese dip. Now, garnish the plate with freshly cut lettuce and a strand of basil leaves.

The wait is finally over. Your desired crispy and hot chicken wings are ready. What are you waiting for, serve it to your guests and savor it!
