Many foreigners have been visiting the UAE for employment purposes. Once they get hired, the employer of the organization applies the employment visa for his employee. The said employee is referred to as ‘Expatriate resident of UAE’.

APPLY FOR NEW VISA IN DUBAI:

The UAE government allowed expatriate residents to sponsor visas for their family members under the condition of having a certain profession. In 2019, this law was no longer followed but has been upgraded to a minimum salary category. Any employee or employer, maintaining the minimum salary criteria (i.e. AED 4,000 or more than AED 3,000) along accommodation, can sponsor their family members and apply for their resident visa in Dubai.

The UAE residence visa requires family members, or applicants, above 18 years to follow a medical test from government approved health centers. This medical test ensures whether the applicant is medically fit or not. After the test reports show negative results, they can apply for Emirates ID from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.

VISA RENEWAL IN DUBAI:

Residence visa requires renewal 1-month prior to its expiration. The sponsor has to make sure that he renews the residence visa of family members under his sponsorship. This step will prevent any kind of fine being imposed on the applicant as they can continue to stay in UAE by following the legal law. Other than that, GDRFA gives a grace time period of 30-days to stay, after the visa expires.

VISA CANCELLATION IN DUBAI:

The residence visa applicant cannot apply for visa cancellation in Dubai by himself, it can only be canceled by the sponsor himself. Whereas, the family members’ visas are linked with their sponsor’s visa (i.e. expatriate resident). Therefore the dependents (family members) visa must be canceled first and then the sponsor (expatriate resident’s) visa.
