MD/MS/Diploma

DNB (Diplomate of National Board)

The second-best option for an MBBS graduate is to pursue continuing with their dreams of becoming a specialist doctor. DNB is a postgraduate degree course offered by the National Board of Examinations and recognized by the MCI. 

However, before you consider pursuing DNB here are a few factors you must consider – 

  • The passing rate in DNB is quite low, and it also depends on the course and the hospital you choose. 
  • Several hospitals prefer MD/MS candidates over DNB candidates.

CMS (Combined Medical Services)

For those interested in the government sector, the Combined Medical Services is a great option. Every year UPSC conducts the CMS exam in the month of July/August. Those who qualify the exam are recruited into government institutions like Railways, Municipal Corporations as Medical Officers. You can appear for the exam immediately after clearing the final year of your MBBS degree.
