discuss the steps to set up your Netgear EX6100 in AP mode. So, let’s dig in…

Steps to set up the Netgear EX6100 AC750 in AP mode:

To configure your Netgear EX6100 AC7500 as an Acces Point, you’ll be needing an ethernet cable.
Follow the below-listed steps to set up your Netgear EX6100 AC750 in Access Point Mode:

  1. On the side of your EX6100, you’ll find a switch. Turn that switch to Access Point Mode.
  2. Now, connect your Netgear EX6100 to your existing router or gateway using an ethernet cable. Connect one end of the cable to the Ethernet LAN port available on your router/gateway, & the other end to the LAN port available on your EX6100.
  3. Once connected, plug your extender into a nearby electrical power outlet & turn it on. Wait until the power LED turns solid green. If it didn’t press the Power On/Off button.
  4. Now turn on your laptop or a smartphone. Go to your device’s WiFi network manager. It’ll load up a
list of available WiFi networks. Look for Netgear_Ext, the default WiFi name or SSID of your Netgear EX6100 extender. Since it’s an open network it won’t ask you for any password.
  5. Once your device is connected to your extender’s network. Open up an internet browser on your device & go to the http://www.mywifiext.net setup page.
  6. Once reached, your extender will start detecting the incoming internet connection from your main router or gateway.
  7. While detecting the incoming connection, your extender will ask you about the connection type. So, select whether the wired connection is public or private.
    • Public: Any public place such as a hotel, coffee shop, railway station, etc.
    • Private: Your home or office network.

After selecting the wired connection type, click the Continue button.

  8. Once detected successfully, it’ll start applying the settings to itself according to the incoming connection type.
  9. Then you’ll be asked to enter the WiFi security settings. Such as the WiFi name & preferred WiFi security passphrase. So, enter the WiFi network security details as per your requirements. Once done, click on the continue button available at the top right corner.
  10. The Netgear Genie setup wizard will start applying the settings to your EX6100 extender.
  11. Once done successfully, your device will get offline or get disconnected from the EX6100 old WiFi name or SSID. So, to finish up the Netgear EX6100 Access Point setup, you’ve to connect your device to the newly created WiFi name or SSID.
  12. Once your device is successfully connected to the extender’s new WiFi network, click the Continue button, followed by the Finish button.
