01: Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

Dominating the clear blue skies, this Mosque is the main mosque in the Sultanate of Oman. With so many renowned historical places in Muscat, this Mosque is an architectural wonder. It carries a seamless blend of Islamic, Middle Eastern, and traditional Omani styles of architecture; this white marble-clad mosque is known for its intricate designs and structures.

5 minarets surround the mosque presenting the 5 pillars of the Islamic faith, with the tallest one being over 90 m in height. The Mosque also houses the world’s largest chandelier, made out of over 6 hundred thousand crystals.

02: Mutrah Corniche

Aligning along the coast, it is one of the most loved places among locals and tourists. It offers splendid views of the sea and appears especially splendid during the sunset as the light hits the shimmering waters.

There are a few pristine gardens and sculpture parks along the way. At the northern end, it has a little local Souq, where you can enjoy your leisure by Saud Bahwan AL Mukhaini.

03: The Royal Opera House

07: Qurum Beach

08: Bait Al Zubair

It was opened to house the private possessions of Sultani Chief Bait AL Zubair Ali is now grown into one of the most popular museums. It has expanded into three separate sections- the main Museum, an art gallery, and a model Omani-style village. The main focus is traditional Omani crafts such as ancient furniture to traditional daggers.

09: Mutrah Souq

A popular sideway trip it still retains the charm of a traditional Arab market. Rows after rows the Souq sells a variety of Indian and Omani artifacts, with antique goods at the jewelry and textile stores. Special items include the antique mandoo, or wedding chests, the traditional Omani suit for men; and rope twisted muskets. Some stalls here sell a variety of snacks too.

10: Al Alam Palace

It is one of the most popular historical places; this historical landmark is known for its characteristic blue and gold facade. Although it does not welcome guests, the beautiful lawns outside are always open to the public. The Palace is best visited in the late evening.

11: Qurum Natural Park

Brimming with lush, flowering gardens, the park is among the top tourist places to enjoy a day picnic. The expansive green park has artificial waterfalls and pools and a beautiful lake in the center. Boating is a popular activity here. The Park features a small amusement park with a variety of fun interactive rides. 12: Al Mirani Fort

It is an iconic 16th-century Fort built by the Portuguese. It is closed to the public, but the dominating figure is nearly synonymous with the city itself.

13: Muscat Gate Museum

The museum stands as evidence of the country’s glory. It houses many fantastic exhibits and is best known for the panoramic views it commands of the Corniche. This makes the Museum one of the most photographed places. The galleries shed light on some of Muscat’s oldest landmarks, including souqs, houses, harbors, and more.

14: Al Jalali Fort

It was built during the Portuguese occupation and guards the harbor entrance towards the east. It is accessible only via a steep flight of steps and is a perfect place to enjoy a quiet hike. It shows a close relationship between the Omani and the French, it was established in 1992. The Museum is housed within the former residence of the French Consul, in the Old Quarters of the city.
