There are multiple KPIs that are used to monitor warehouse performance. Depending on the industrial sector of the company or the role played by the logistics center in the Supply Chain, the following indicators are usually verified:

Picking accuracy: percentage of errors in the preparation of orders in relation to the total number of orders prepared.
Rotation index: number of times the inventory (or a concrete reference) is renewed in a given period of time, usually one year.
Internal Order Cycle Time: Time taken to complete an order from the time it is received until it leaves the shipping bay.
Pending Order Rate: Percentage of orders that include references that are not in stock because they are out of stock. This KPI must be kept to a minimum.
Punctual deliveries index: percentage of deliveries that comply with the conditions agreed with the customer. This KPI shows the company’s logistical service level and warehouse efficiency.

The KPIs listed can be analyzed with the help of specific software such as, for example, Supply Chain Business Intelligence. It is a Mecalux Easy WMS module designed to analyze the performance of all the activities that take place in the warehouse. Here are some tips to choose the forklift

Monitor the security of the warehouse:

There is neither productivity nor efficiency without a secure warehouse, both for operators and transport systems and for goods. The Logistics Manager must ensure that the signage and lighting of the warehouse are correct in order to eliminate any risk of accident. Furthermore, as in any other industrial installation, it is essential to comply with the laws in force in each country regarding the safety of both manual and automatic storage vehicles and systems.

. Anticipate changes:

Managing the warehouse means not only optimizing the operations that take place in the installation, but also anticipating any changes or interruptions that may alter the dynamics of the warehouse. Digitizing the management simplifies this work, since it allows to structure the information generated in the warehouse so that the Manager can make decisions based on objective data.
