I am the oldest of the three children of my parents. When I was young, my family and I lived in a small town in Uttar Pradesh. There, my parents had to enroll me in a small local convent school. There were not many schools in the town and my parents had to choose one decent school out of all the very few schools established there. After a few years, my sister was born. When it was time for my parents to enroll her in a school, a few good schools had been established in a nearby city. My parents enrolled her in one of the decent schools in the nearby city to provide her with the resources that were not available to me. Then many years later, my brother was born. By the time it was time for my parents to enroll him in a school, they had decided to move bases. My parents decided to move to the Noida city in Uttar Pradesh to give my brother the education they could not provide for my sister and me. I was extremely glad when my parents decided to enroll my brother in Pacific World School. I also wanted him to receive better opportunities and resources as the time today requires more awareness, advanced skills, and better educational background. Even though my sister and I have been doing pretty well in life today but had we been provided with the same education today that we were provided when we were growing up, we would not have been able to walk on the path of a successful life easily. Even if we would have worked extra hard to be where we are today, we would have struggled way more to achieve the same success. This is the reason why I support and praise my parents’ decision of leaving their ancestral home and a settled life behind and moving to a new city to struggle to settle down and provide better resources and opportunities to their children. Not many in my extended family understood the reasoning behind my parents’ decision but my parents knew what they wanted to do for their children. Today, if my brother is studying in one of the best CBSE schools in Noida Extension and is receiving a great education, it is all because of my parents’ determination and wise attitude.
Now, when my parents see my brother doing well at school and opting for far-fetched opportunities successfully, they walk with pride. They see their sacrifices bearing fruits now. Even my extended family has started to recognise the efforts put in by my parents and some of them have been considering moving to Noida themselves to provide their children with resources and opportunities just like how my parents did for my brother. Recently, my brother won a competition at school which gave him a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to increase his knowledge about space. Such opportunities are what my parents wanted to provide him with. My sister and I could not receive such opportunities and my parents still talk about it to this day. Even when we try to pacify them by telling them that they did the best they could do for us, it does not change their opinion at times.
