And while you might think you can get enough Zinc from the foods you eat, especially if you eat red meat, poultry, legumes, nuts, grains and dairy, sometimes you do not get enough. It is always a good thing to get a supplement.

Symptoms of a Zinc deficiency

You might have a Zinc deficiency if your hair is falling out or thinning, if your wounds do not heal quickly, if you feel like you take forever to heal from the flu, if you have a low appetite or if you struggle with stomach issues or insomnia. You should take Zinc if you have any of these symptoms but also note that if any of these symptoms continue it is a good idea to see a doctor. And note that these symptoms are often parallel with deficiencies in other minerals and nutrients so you might want to look at taking a few different supplements. You can chat to a pharmacist or to a health store and of course you can ask your doctor too.

Are supplements not hugely expensive

Mineral and nutrient supplements are not expensive at all and almost everyone can afford to take them and to give them to their family. Always ensure that you are taking the right does and if there are children, of if someone is pregnant, read the dosage and the instructions. Read the instructions anyways and always. The supplements that are expensive are the supplements like Lion’s Mane but we will leave this for another article. Most supplements are really inexpensive and because we cannot get everything in our diet, are really important to take.

Everyone should have things like extra vitamins and nutrients, Vitamin C and Zinc tablets in their medicine chest and should take them on a daily basis, unless otherwise advised.
