It all seems so easy, plan a holiday or backpacking trip well and book it as cheaply as possible. On birthdays everyone brags about booking fun, active holidays in distant destinations that cost next to nothing, but when you go see for yourself it always seems to be much more expensive.

How is that possible? What do they do differently than you? In this blog I give a number of useful tips for planning and booking a cheap holiday . It’s easier than you think if you know how to do it

1. Find the Most Beautiful Holiday Destination

What could be more fun than browsing the internet and reading fun stories about the most wonderful trips? As far as we are concerned, getting inspired is a big part of the preparation. You can of course read nice travel blogs.

Searching the internet, looking at beautiful pictures of the beautiful nature on the other side of the world, I can fill days with it. Read and look around the internet and remember the places that appeal to you or write them down. Make yourself a top 3 of countries or places you want to visit.

2. Determine the Best Travel Time

You have a few beautiful holiday destinations in mind, now what? Most people take a few weeks off (usually during the big holidays) and only then start looking for deals. So we do it the other way around , and recommend everyone to do it the same way.

We’re going to see where we want to go first. We then check the best travel time for those countries or regions, taking into account the climate, price and crowds. Only then will we look at how we can best connect this to our holidays.

3. Make Nice Lists And Save

Now it’s time for the next step: the anticipation! Of course, see if there are any great tips for the country or region in question. Then you will collect all the nice places and hotspots on a self-made Google Map . Waterfalls, viewpoints, the best restaurants.

4. Plan Your Itinerary

Now comes the part where you will save the most money. Planning, planning and actually booking your itinerary go hand in hand and the costs will largely depend on this. You will sometimes have to record things (such as flights). The first profit maker: fly during the week ! In general, flights are cheaper during the week, so take advantage of that. Book flights 5 to 8 months in advance for the best prices.

5. Airline Tickets, Hotels, Cars & Rvs

As indicated in point 4, you prefer to book the common thread in your trip as far in advance as possible. But where do you do that? There is a huge amount on offer and that is why I mainly use a few price comparison sites.

You often see a more complete range at price comparison sites, so you don’t have to scour countless websites and do the same searches countless times. In any case, it makes planning a holiday a lot easier and it also saves costs. Below I list my favourite sites per category for you, hopefully you will find them as pleasant to work with as I do!
