Another great place to visit for fall festivals is Tougas Farm in Rockford. It has been in the family for over 30 years. Maurice and Phyllis Tougas bought the farm in 1981. The farm features pumpkin picking, barnyard animals, playgrounds, and farm baked goods.

Before the tornado in 2008 destroyed the original barns, Edwards Apple Orchard operated as a dairy farm. Audrey Edwards and Bob Sr. lost their farm in Minnesota during the Dust Bowl, so they moved back to Rockford and bought a farm on Centerville Rd Black Swan Yoga. They milked cows there for twenty-five years. Unfortunately, in 2008, a rare winter tornado devastated Northern Boone County, and the orchard was completely destroyed. However, the community rallied around the Edwards family and helped the farm rebuild.
The Edwards family continues to run the orchard. The orchard draws thousands of visitors every year. The family is active in the community, serving as a Lions Club member and volunteering with the Village of Poplar Grove for years. They were also longtime members of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church. The funeral details have not yet been announced.
The Weston siblings are 88 years old and are the heart and soul of the orchard. Their goal is to preserve the heritage of the orchard and its history. The Westons also grow plums, cherries, pears, peaches, and plums.

Opening date of edwards apple orchard
Located in Winnebago, the Edwards Apple Orchard West recently announced its opening date. The farm is located at 8218 Cemetery Rd. This fourth-generation family farm has 50,000 apple trees and 100 acres of a petting farm. It grows over 30 different varieties of apples. The farm has a free children’s play area and a tractor ride on weekends.
There are two locations of the Edwards Apple Orchard: West and East. The west location will open on August 27th. It will offer fresh apples, apple cider donuts, and hayrides. The East location will open later, but the opening date has not been announced yet.
The Edwards Orchard is located in rural northwestern Winnebago County. The farm opened in 1964 as a dairy farm and was converted to an apple orchard in 1984. Ken and Barb Hall worked as agronomists before returning to the farm to take over the operation. They purchased the farm in 1990.
