A requirement for your next trip to the campground! These are three recipes for pies you can make over a campfire.

Campfire Cherry Pies in Miniature

What do you require exactly?

  • 1 pre-made pie dough package with enough dough for two pies
  • 1 small can of cherry pie filling
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • Butter

After you have rolled out the dough, use a cup to cut out a circle (about 2-3 cm wide). Take the remaining portion of the dough, re-roll it into a rectangle, and cut out as many circles as you desire from the new rectangle. Put the circle on the dish, then put about a tablespoon of the cherry filling on top of it, and then put another circle of dough on top of that. To ensure a good closure, press the edges of the small pies with a fork.

Proceed in the same manner with the remaining ingredients. A cast-iron pan with two inches of vegetable oil in it should be heated over coals. When you are ready to cook, depending on the size of the pan, fry between one and three patties until they are golden brown on all sides. Take the food away from the heat and set it on some paper towels. After the patties have finished cooking, dust them with white sugar and serve them immediately.

Apple Raisin Pie

You will need two slices of white or wheat bread, three tablespoons of apple pie filling, one tablespoon of raisins, and one tablespoon of melted butter. What else do you need?

Spread butter equally on just one side of the bread. Put it inside the buttered toaster oven with the buttered side facing down. Distribute the apple mixture, top it with the raisins, and then place the second slice of bread on top with the buttered side facing up.

After the apple crumble pie is done, remove the cover from the toaster oven and continue baking on high for an additional 4-5 minutes, rotating the pie occasionally.

Fantastic S’mores Pie

What do you anticipate needing?

  • Eight slices of cinnamon bread
  • Four crackers split up into large pieces
  • One cup of miniature marshmallows for the fire
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Put one slice of cinnamon bread in the bottom of a pie pan that has been buttered, and then top the bread with cracker slices, marshmallows, and chocolate drops (divide the ingredients into 4 pieces). Finish the pie off with a last slice of cinnamon toast and put the lid on.

Take out any excess bread that’s in the pie. Put in the oven for one minute on each side after being placed on a baking sheet. Put on a dish, and it’s ready to be served.
