To transfer money to another person or make a payment, you must have funds in your account. Venmo is no exception.

This article will cover How To Add Money To Venmo Account. We’ll also discuss the various methods that you can use.

How To Add Money To Your Venmo Account?

After you have opened a Venmo Account, you will need to create funding sources. This will allow you to add money to the Venmo account and later, transfer it to other people. This can be done using your bank account, credit card, or debit card.

Fund Venmo Payments Through Your Bank Account

You can fund Venmo payments using your bank account

Venmo allows you to add a bank account as a funding source to your profile. You can pay with money drawn directly from your bank account.

Follow these steps to link your bank account.

  • Tap the menu button (the one that has three horizontal lines).
  • Go to Settings and then choose Payment Methods
  • Follow the Card Add Bank or Card instructions and select Bank
  • You will then need to select your verification method

Before you can use your account for Venmo-related transfers, you must verify it. There are two methods to do this: manual verification or instant verification.

Add your bank account manually. All you have to do is tell your account number and routing numbers. Your bank may reject or refuse transfers if you enter your check number.

Venmo will send small amounts to verify your account ownership. To avoid overdrafts or other bank fees, ensure you have enough money in your bank account.

If you have your bank login information, you can also get instant Verification. You will be asked to input the username and password that you use online for banking if your bank is eligible for instant verification.

Fund Venmo Payments With Your Credit Or Debit Card

Venmo allows you to make payments with your debit or credit card. However, Venmo is not compatible with all other online services. You will need to set it up first by entering some basic information about your card.

This is what you need to do:

  • Tap the menu button (the one that has three horizontal lines).
  • Continue reading Settings and then move on to payment Methods
  • Select Add bank card, and choose the Card choice
  • You can choose to add your card information by hand or using your phone’s camera

It is a good idea to keep contact information for your card issuer’s support agents. Sometimes, your card could be denied for verification because of a change in address or zip code.

Venmo does not allow you to change specific information about a card that you have added. If your card expiry date has been changed, Venmo will require you to remove the card and then register it again with the updated information.

Venmo will also offer a feature that allows two people who own a debit card to use it together on the platform.

Add money to your Venmo Balance

Venmo debit cards allow you to add money directly from your bank account to your Venmo balance.

These are the steps you should follow when adding money to your Venmo account.

  • Navigate to your personal transaction feed and tap on the Manage Balance option in the top right
  • Click on Done to enter the amount you wish to add.
  • Select the account that you wish to transfer money from, and then select Next
  • After reviewing the information regarding your transfer and the estimated arrival time, tap Add money.

Keep in mind, however, that the transfer cannot be canceled after 4 steps.

Venmo funds usually take between 3-5 business days to reach your Venmo balance. Weekends and public holidays can affect this timeframe.
