The Ford Ranger is once again the most popular ute in Australia. The 2023 Ford Ranger models are here in Western Sydney, NSW: the XLS and the XLT. Let’s learn more about these models as we compare Ford Ranger XLS vs XLT.

2023 Ford Ranger Models in Western Sydney:

Engine and Transmission

The XLS is powered by a 2.0L Bi-Turbo engine that produces 150kW and 500Nm of torque. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic and a part-time 4×4. You also have a choice between 4×2 or 4×4.

The XLT offers the same engine as the XLS as standard, and you have the option to switch this engine for a 3.0L V6 turbo-diesel that gives you 184kW and 600Nm of torque. The transmission is a 10-speed automatic, and the XLT has a full-time AWD with an e-Shifter and an electronic parking brake.

Body Style

The XLS is available in one body style: the tried-and-tested double cab pick-up. The XLT, in contrast, offers a choice of a double-cab pick-up in 4×2 or 4×4, a super-cab pick-up with the 2.0L engine, and a double-cab chassis with the 3.0L engine.

Grille and Headlamps

The XLS features a black front grille with silver accents, front fog lamps, daytime running lights, and halogen headlamps. Side steps are also installed as standard.

The XLT upgrades the grille to a prominent upper grille with a chrome centre bar, replaces the halogen headlamps with c-clamp LED headlamps, and changes the daytime running lights to LED running lights.

Wheels

The XLS sits on shiny 16″ dark sparkle silver finish alloy wheels. The XLT takes the wheels a step further with 17″ dark sparkle silver finish alloy wheels.

Infotainment

The XLS features a 10.1″ touchscreen with an embedded modem. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and SYNC 4A and FordPass Connect are installed.

The XLT has the same infotainment features, except the SYNC 4A system is voice activated and a built-in satellite system is added.

Driver’s Cockpit

The XLS has an 8″ colour digital instrument cluster and a large coast-to-coast instrument panel for easier visibility.

The XLT features the same digital instrument cluster and instrument panel and adds dual-zone climate control and a leather-trim steering wheel. If you choose a double-cab model, you will also have rear air vent registers.

Safety Features

Safety is always a high priority for Ford, and the XLS includes a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist with edge detection, and blind spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert. The XLS and XLT both have an ANCAP 5-star safety rating.

The XLT includes the same safety features as the XLS with added enhancements. Adaptive cruise control now has stop-and-go, traffic signal recognition, and centring. A trailer coverage feature is added to the blind spot monitoring system, and a rearview camera is installed.
