Just wondering where this generation is heading, isn’t it? I mean, I know that the current generation is all about technology and the internet whereas the people of the earlier generation(mostly parents, grandparents) must be befuddled about what it is that their kids and grandkids do sticking to that phone/ laptop/tab all the time, right? I mean, I agree that technology has made us crippled and dependent on it…for the things that we didn’t even know we wanted..but on the contrary, it has introduced us to so many new things that are extremely helpful to us too.
1) Google: Google is one of the most popular search engines which helps you to find any kind of information you want..be it about something that has already happened or something that is happening. Google has been a game-changer since it has provided us with a way to know about things that were impossible to search for.
2) Youtube: Youtube is a video watching platform that helps us to listen to our favorite songs online..rather than downloading songs and using up our memory, youtube helps us to listen to songs, see videos and watch movies without interruptions. In fact, through video posting, youtube has also become a source of livelihood for many.
3) Linkedin: Linkedin is a website/app that has created a platform for job seekers to bag job opportunities posted by various companies on the social media giant. Many people have claimed that they have gained employment opportunities through this medium. Imagine that instead of roaming around for job opportunities, you get opportunities on the internet itself..what a lovely thing to have around!
4) Google Maps: Google Maps have been a boon for the people who travel a lot as this app provides us with different routes to reach us to a destination..which happens through satellites. It also tells us about the traffic status of roads and streets.
5) Crowdfunding/Charities: Crowdfunding has become the in-thing nowadays..it is a platform for good-hearted people that come together to bring a change in the life of people who need it! Also, platforms like charity stars offer sweepstakes for various causes in return for a chance to win a prize or an experience. Is charitystars legit might be a question that pops in several minds, but it is as real as it gets!
6) Facebook: Facebook has changed the face of the internet as it has provided a huge platform for people to run their businesses on it. Also, it is a platform that enables you to rendezvous with people you know or people that you would like to know.
7) E-commerce: E-commerce giants like Amazon have changed the face of the consumer market..they have enabled consumers to order their requirements from the comfort of their home..in fact, it has made the availability of almost every product very easy and reachable.
8) E-wallets: What happened to the old-fashioned jingle of coins and the smell of fresh, new notes? Disappeared huh? The culprit might be e-wallets..it is an app that enables you to pay just by the use of your mobile phone. It enables transferring funds from the payee to the receiver within seconds. It has definitely brought in a revolution!
The Internet is a huge, huge place that comes with its own set of merits and demerits. Although people might consider the demerits and downgrade it, one should be considerate of what kind of benefits it comes with.
