DS1216 is  SmartWatch  Random Access Memory (ram) that  have a built-in CMOS watch function with broad 600-mil DIP sockets and NV RAM controllers with lithium energy sources. The sockets give a solution for memory capacities of 2k x 8, 512k x 8, and 26- or 32-pin packages. To counter the volatility of memory and use a single power source to retain the time and date, CMOS SRAMs are fitted with sockets when paired with CMOS SRAMs. SmartWatch ROM sockets are powered by the built-in lithium battery to keep time and date information accurate. The SmartWatch’s essential characteristic is that the watch functionality stays undetectable to the RAM. The SmartWatch keeps track of VCC in case the value gets out of tolerance. If the watch detects such a condition, the internal lithium energy source is turned on, and write protection is enabled to avoid data loss.
