Have you been trying to meet your rabbits and get a new litter of rabbits? Have you successful and has the female doe been able to conceive? If the answer is no, then there must be something wrong with the rabbit breeding process that you are following. If you have both male and female rabbits, you must have already planned for the breeding process. But as smooth as it looks, the breeding process is not that easy.

Even though rabbits can breed countless times in a single year and have multiple litters of rabbits, the breeder has to follow a manual. This manual differs from one rabbit breed to another. If the female rabbit is not pregnant yet then there could be these following four issues happening:

  1. Rabbits are overweight

You might not know but you need to prepare your rabbits before you start breeding them. In the wild, rabbits usually do not suffer from overweight issues as they are always engaged in food hunting and other activities. But household rabbits can easily become overweight if the breeder or owner is not monitoring their diet. This issue can become one of the leading causes of rabbit infertility, both in the male and the female. So, if your rabbits are on the chubbier side, get them weight maintenance supplements and diet.

  1. The weather is not perfect

Even in the wild, the rabbits will not copulate when the weather is in the extremes, either way. If it is too hot outside, they will not bother in mating and you will not receive any litter of rabbit in the summer season. If it is too cold outside, there will be no successful mating and the pregnancy results will also be negative. So, it is advised to pet owners not to go forward with rabbit breeding in heat wave and cold wave seasons.

  1. Absence of perfect shading and security

Even though rabbits do not build nest when they want to breed and have babies, they usually dig holes in the wild. This is the natural instinct of both the male and the female rabbit, so that they can have a comfortable environment for mating. Also, they want to provide extra security to the young litter of rabbits that they will produce in no time. So, in the homely atmosphere, you will need to provide extra security with the right amount of light and ventilation in the pen.

  1. Physiology of the female rabbit

The female rabbit may not be perfectly compatible with the male rabbit and this is one of the reasons why they might become infertile temporarily. Although, it is unusual between wild animals but if the female doe is breeding for the first time, this is quite common. In that case, you need to choose a male rabbit that is young in age and has experienced breeding, once or twice.

Also, do not give a long gap between the breeding seasons. You will find a number of bunny supplies and jewelries from pet stores where you can get breeding supplements to keep your bunnies healthy all throughout the process.
