Part Number: TNY266PN

Description

The TNY266PN TinySwitch-II includes a 700 V power MOSFET, an oscillator, a high voltage, power limits, and a monolithic system with thermal shutdown. As a result of the DRAIN pin being connected to the drain, the start-up and operational power is immediately available, eliminating the requirement for a bias winding and accompanying circuitry. Furthermore, TinySwitch-II devices include self-starting, line Undervoltage and frequency jittering.

A novel design can decrease audible noise in typical transformer construction by eliminating the frequency components in the simple ON/OFF control scheme. The auto-restart circuit that is completely integrated helps to minimize the cost of additional circuitry for components such as the output short circuit or open loop fault, reducing the overall cost of the circuit. An optional line sense resistor can be externally programmed to prevent power-down hiccups in applications like standby supplies, which have input storage capacitors that drain slowly. To minimize the expense of filtering, the 132 kHz working frequency is jittered substantially.

Features

Automatic restart to help resolve problems with short circuit and open loop faults.

Standard dip-varnished transformers are loaded with special circuitry that significantly reduces all audible noise.

The programmable under-voltage detection feature keeps the power on/off from changing erratically

EMI emissions drop by a significant 10dB with frequent jitter.

Reducing transformer size is a benefit of the 132kHz operating frequency.

strict limits and small variations in critical parameters

economical option for low component count switch design

No loop compensation necessary because the control is a simple On/Off.

Winding without bias.

The simplistic design of the manufacturing process minimizes the chances of error.

Without bias winding, the power consumption is no more than 250 mW at 265 VAC input.

Fast start-up with no overshoot is possible with higher bandwidth.

The current limit operation will only accept the line frequency ripple.

Built-in thermal and overload protection adds to the safety of the machine.

Applications

Electronic, imaging, video, and vision goods, industrial applications, multimedia, and power management products
