How often you should Exfoliate for your Skin Type:

Different skin types call for different amounts of exfoliation. Some skin types require exfoliating four times a week, whereas for a newbie just once a week is enough.

If you do not exfoliate at all, your skin ends up with clogged pores and dull skin. Whereas if you overdo it, your skin may feel irritative and can flare up.

1. Dry or Sensitive Skin

People with dry or sensitive skin should be cautious, with the number of times they exfoliate. Once or twice a week is more than enough, as harsh products may irritate your skin, leading to further dryness and sensitivity. Using a gentle exfoliator with rice powder or bamboo is suggested.

2. Oily or Acne-Prone Skin

Two to three times a week is recommended for such types if their skin can tolerate it. For oily skin, you can also try physical exfoliating. Exfoliators with salicylic acid are suggested, as they are oil soluble.

3. Combination Skin

If your skin allows, you can stick to two to three times a week. Exfoliators that contain mandelic acid are really good for such skin types, as they are very useful in removing excess oil and are also mild so that the dry areas do not get affected.

4. Mature Skin

Using a gentle chemical exfoliator twice a week is suggested. If your skin gets irritative, you can reduce the frequency. Glycolic acid products are suggested because they reduce the appearance of fine lines.

5. Normal Skin

Two to three times a week is a safe starting point. If your skin handles it well, then you can exfoliate even more frequently.
